How to produce cutting discs

Normally there are three steps on producing the bonded corundum cutting discs:

1, first, blend a suitable material powder for the cutting discs, in fact, this step is very important. There are so many kinds of corundum, white alumina, brown alumina, black alumina, single crystal alumina, microcrystalline alumina, etc, they can also be blended together to achieve the special character.

A lot of experience is needed here to blend out the right material, both right and economical.

2, second, the processing, this is also very important.

This not only includes the producing process, like forming, meshing, pressing, etc but also includes the heating, curing processing.

This processing course is so important, that it finally decides whether the quality is ok or not.

3, last but not the least, it is the test.

Normally in the test step, we will directly use the cutting disc to cut the workpiece, to see how many cuts it can achieve if it meets with the customer’s requirement. If not, then the whole process proceeds once again.

The price of cutting disc varies a lot.

But basically, except the brand issue, (a famous brand, with a higher price, that is the rule), the material and processing take a big part of the final price.

If the cutting disc is too cheap, you should wander if the material is the right one.
